LiFXXL9× bigger · Less lag · New gameplay
Nine LiF:YO maps become one realm. Streamed terrain means less waiting. Vanilla bugs are finally fixed, while quests, merchants, Knool camps and expanded professions give you reasons to cross it.
The realm is being forged
Watch development before opening →Nine times the land. Less loading. Less lag.
LiFXXL shares the work across nine server regions and loads nearby terrain as you travel. You get one enormous realm without forcing the game to load all 81 terrains before you can play.

More world. Less waiting.
The technology stays behind the scenes. For the player it means a continuous journey across PvE lands in the south, adventure and quests in the middle, and PvP territory in the north — with neighbouring regions prepared before you reach them.
Vanilla fixed. The world expanded.
LiFXXL keeps the spirit of Life is Feudal: Your Own, repairs the rough edges players have lived with for years, and builds entirely new systems on top of the medieval sandbox.
Vanilla bugfixes
Small problems can ruin big plans. We fixed long-standing issues that interrupt everyday work or make tunnelling needlessly painful.
Auto actions stay active
Server-side events such as dropping dirt no longer disrupt a player's current automatic action.
Proper uphill and downhill tunnels
Tunnels dug upward or downward are no longer too small. Paul says this bug was reported ten years ago — and apparently it is still present in the MMO. Good job!
Improvements, vanilla style
Features that feel like they should have been there from the beginning — useful, grounded and completely at home in LiF:YO.
Collapse Tunnel
Tunnels can now be collapsed with a new action: “Collapse Tunnel”. Literally everyone asked for it, so yeah.
Horse carts for two
Yes, two players. You can finally commute to work with a buddy — medieval style.
New custom features
New professions, encounters, economies and technology turn the familiar sandbox into a much larger, more varied world.
Every tree finally matters
No more generic hard- and softwood logs. Oak produces oak logs, boards and billets; every species has its own materials. Some recipes accept broad categories, while others — including arrows — require a specific wood. There is finally a reason to grow more than oak.
Expanded alchemy
Every buffable skill gets its own potion, luck potions are introduced, and the vanilla effects limit is gone. New Skill Effect elixirs and preparations carry skill buffs just like their vanilla counterparts.
Knool camps
Several camps appear in semi-random locations. An anti-lure system keeps players from dragging their inhabitants where they should never go.
Custom quest system
Yes — real custom NPCs, original quests and a dedicated graphical interface built for the LiFXXL world.
Travelling trade
Who needs static trade posts when a travelling merchant can appear in random places? Separate northern and southern inflation means a caravan across the map can be worth the journey.
Many servers. One world.
Travel far enough and a different server instance takes over. Work is delegated where it is safe, while critical calculations remain with the master server. The result: more speed without changing how the world feels to the player.
An XXL map
You like the standard map? How about nine of them joined into one enormous 9×9-terrain realm?
No practical player limit
LiFXXL is built to accept as many players as the world needs. The technical ceiling is 65,535 players.
Streaming terrains
No one has time to wait thirty minutes for a game to load. Your client loads what it needs first, then streams the rest of the world as you play.
PvP? PvE? Both.
The map is divided into three equal regions. The north uses a PvP ruleset, the south has PvP disabled, and the middle is built for quests and adventure. Rulesets mean actual server systems — not an administrator following you around.
Fast fields, fast tunnels
Whenever possible, LiFXXL uses its own caching mechanisms for fields and tunnels. What does that mean to you? Less lag.
Automatic terrain repacking
Terraforming normally makes a server slower to load over time. When changes grow too large, LiFXXL schedules them to be packed into the base terrain and automatically sends the refreshed terrain to you on the next restart. Less waiting, more playing.
Development status: LiFXXL is an active independent community server project. Some systems described here represent current development goals and may still be tested, changed or completed before opening.

Help us spend more time building LiFXXL.
LiFXXL is created by Zbigi & Pabluuz. For Pabluuz, its development now happens between freelance jobs and an ongoing search for stable work.
The rapid rise of AI has reshaped the software market, while the kind of PHP work he has done for years is becoming harder to find. Difficulty finding work and having more free time help with the development of Life is Feudal, but unfortunately do not help pay the bills or provide enough peace of mind. That is why we would be very grateful if you chose to show your appreciation for our contribution to the development of LiFXXL.
